Abstract :
A broad fluorescence of pyrene with a peak at 415 nm, which is assigned as the second excimer fluorescence of pyrene, is enhanced by an electric field in a PMMA film. On the other hand, the well-known excimer fluorescence of pyrene with a peak at ∼470 nm and the sharp structured fluorescence emitted from the locally excited state of S1 are quenched by an external electric field at high concentrations. Excimer formation rate is enhanced by an electric field both for the first excimer and for the second excimer.
