Comment on “Lifetimes of vibrational levels in the B̃ 2A′ state of HCO”

Arguments are put forward that the quantum beats in the B̃ 2A′ electronic state of HCO attributed to a higher-order hyperfine perturbation by Tobiason and Rohlfing are most likely due to well-known hyperfine quantum beats. In contrast to Tobiason and Rohlfingʹs interpretation, hyperfine perturbations among bright and dark states are irrelevant for understanding such quantum beats.
