The study of birefringence in mixed plastic methylchloromethanes

Birefringence in mixed noncubic plastic crystals tert-butylchloride-carbon tetrachloride and methylchloroform-carbon tetrachloride has been investigated. It has been shown that analysis of the concentration dependence of the birefringence allows the calculation of the orientational order parameters of axially symmetric molecules in a two-component plastic crystal.
