Abstract :
Several bands of the C 3Π–X 3Π and C 3Π–A 3Σ− systems of SiC were recorded on photographic plates in the 350–560 nm visible region from an electric glow discharge with a composite SiC/Cu cathode and a 1000 gauss transverse magnetic field. The present work extends observation of the C 3Π–X 3Π transition previously made in supersonic jet to higher J-line values and to the 3Π0–3Π0 component. It proved impossible to record these spectra when using Fourier transform spectroscopy. A discussion is given to explain tentatively the reasons for this failure.
