Abstract :
The quasi-ballistic model of transport, recently introduced by the author (Chem. Phys. Letters 207 (1993) 245), has been applied to eleven hydrocarbon liquids in which the electron mobility is less than 10 cm2 V−1 s−1. In all cases except benzene a combination of a trap density ∼ 1019 cm−3 and a quasi-free mobility ∼ 100 cm2 V−1 s−1 fits the experimental data quite well. Other possible ranges for this pair of values are indicated. Within the context of the model, activation energy for mobility seems approximately proportional to the binding energy of the electron in the trap, although not necessarily equal to it.
