Abstract :
Individual gaseous species of fullerene chlorides have been successfully generated in a molecular beam. Knudsen cell mass spectrometry has been used to detect C60Cl2n (n=0…9), C70Cl2m (m=0…7) in the vapour over the system C60/C70 (extract) with CrCl3, FeCl3·6H2O, FeCl3 (anhydrous) and CuCl2 (anhydrous) at temperatures from 520 to 720 K. Bond dissociation enthalpies for the fullerene chlorides have been estimated.
