Abstract :
The measurement of the electronic and ESR spectrum of triple-decker phthalocyanine trimer radical in solution is reported. The one-electron oxidation product of the soluble trimer ([(Pc)Lu(CRPc)Lu(Pc)]: Pc = phthalocyanine; CRPc = 5-crown-5 substituted Pc) in dichloromethane shows an ESR signal at g=2.0022 at 77 K, and an intense near-IR band at ≈ 5 × 103 cm−1. The origin of the near-IR band (which corresponds to the near-IR band of the dimer radical [Lu(Pc)2] at ≈ 7 × 103 cm−1) as well as bands in the Q-band region are discussed in terms of a localized orbital model.
