Abstract :
The temperature dependence of the charge-recombination rate in photochemically generated ion-pair states (carotenoid, C)+—(porphyrin, P)—(pyromellitimide, Im)− has been shown to vary with a spacer between C and P. The triad with a 1,4-phenylene spacer exhibits only weak temperature dependence, while triads with methylene-bis-(1,4-phenylene) and benzanilide spacers exhibit distinct biphasic temperature dependence.
