Abstract :
The rate coefficient of the reaction H + CO2 → CO + OH(1) was measured using OH concentration measurements in shock-heated N2OH2CO2 mixtures and through the inhibiting effect of CO2 on methane ignition. For 2170 < T < 3150 K the two methods give concordant results and imply k1 = 2.0 × 1014 exp(−13500/T) cm3 mol−1 s−1. Using the equilibrium constant together with this and other recent measurements, the rate coefficient of the reverse reaction was found to be well described by k−1 = 3.3 × 106T1.55 exp(402/T) cm3 mol−1 s−1 for the temperature range 300–3150 K.
