Abstract :
The vibrational spectrum of the vapour over solid SeO2 has been measured by high-temperature infrared spectroscopy in the 200–2500 cm−1 range. The ν2 and ν3 vibrational fundamentals of the molecule have been located at 364 and 968 cm−1, respectively. The band shapes of SeO2 and those of TeO2 reported earlier were interpreted by analysis of the rotational contours. Quantum chemical calculations were performed for TeO2 at the MP2 and CCSD(T) levels of theory. On the basis of the results of this study a re-interpretation of our previous measurements on gaseous TeO2 has been made.
