Abstract :
Infrared absorption bands in neon, argon, and krypton matrices at 4 K were assigned to Si3, Si4, Si6, and Si7 from isotopic splittings and from ab initio calculations of their vibrational frequencies and relative intensities. The agreement between experimental and calculated frequencies is excellent. Si5 is apparently in too low a concentration to be observed.
