Abstract :
We present a theory and experimental results for the use of orthodeuterium to obtain dramatically enhanced NMR signals of the products of deuteration reactions. Orthodeuterium was enriched in solid nitrogen at 65 K, the deuterations however were carried out at ambient temperature and pressure. The phenomenon presented should be useful for NMR investigations of chiral syntheses.
