Abstract :
The estimation of the binding of the Ni+ · (N2O) and Ni+ · (CO2) ions from simple electrostatic arguments has led to a debate as to the expected geometry of these two species. In opposition to the statements made in the above paper, we find electrostatic calculations alone are inadequate to predict the ion geometry in this case.
