Abstract :
The fluorescence quenching of 9,10-dicyanoanthracene (DCNA) by oxygen in liquid at 25°C and supercritical carbon dioxide (SCF CO2) at 35°C was investigated at pressures from 8.0 to 60.0 MPa. The quenching rate constant, kq, increased significantly with increasing pressure in both the systems. The pressure dependence of kq in SCF CO2 was satisfactorily interpreted in the same framework as the quenching mechanism in liquid phase that involves solvent cage.
