Abstract :
An external electric field was applied perpendicular to the twofold axis and in the metal-ligand plane of the C2/c [Zn(bpy)3](ClO4(2 lattice doped with the specifically deuterated complex [Ru(bpy)(bpy-d8)2]2+. Pseudo-Stark splittings observed in luminescence and excitation spectra of the lowest-energy 3MLCT origins provide an elegant confirmation of our previous assignments of origins to independent 3MLCT excitations of the bpy or the bpy-d8 ligands.
