Abstract
In this Letter, we propose a new simulation technique for many-body systems of bosons based on the path integral formulation of quantum statistical mechanics. The indistinguishability of the bosons was handled by importance sampling in permutation space, and the path configurations for a given permutation were sampled using a hybrid Monte Carlo method. A system of 32 bosons in a harmonic well was chosen as a model problem. Calculations were performed for the system at various temperatures. The calculated thermodynamic quantities are in excellent agreement with the exact values.
