Laser-induced fluorescence of molecular sodium

The study of the irradiance fluorescence spectrum induced by the 488 nm laser line of an Ar+ laser is presented for the B1Πu–X1Σ+g system of the Na2 molecule. A calibrated halogen lamp has been used to calibrate a diode array spectrograph. Measured intensities are in agreement with calculated intensities. Theoretical calculations have been carried out using RKR potentials and theoretical dipole transition moments.
