Abstract :
Emission from CF2 (أ 1B1) was observed following the photolysis of N2O at 210 nm in the presence of C2F4. Wavelength-resolved emission spectra confirm CF2 as the spectral carrier. The emission decay time and intensity varies with the partial pressure of C2F4; the emission is shown to result from the reaction between O(1D) and C2F4. Analysis of the fluorescence decay rate as a function of C2F4 concentration yields a rate coefficient of (2.4±0.3)×1013 cm3/mol-s for the O(1D)+C2F4 reaction at 296 K.
