Abstract
We obtained 103Rh NMR spectra of approximately 3 nm diameter rhodium particles, supported on titania, or protected by a polymer film. The NMR lines are considerably broadened and slightly shifted with respect to those of the bulk metal. The broadening and shift are size dependent, but temperature independent in the 20–80 K range. We give a qualitative interpretation in terms of a site dependence of both the electron-orbital (or chemical) and the electron-spin (or Knight) shifts.
