Abstract
A quasinonadiabatic calculation of the dipole polarizability of H2+(0,0) has been extended to become fully nonadiabatic. The result is still in good agreement with experiment and with other calculations. An explanation is given of why use of quantum–mechanical rotational averaging, rather than classical rotational averaging, has little effect in this instance. The result for D2+ is also reported. The possibility of extending the calculations to other levels is discussed.
