γ-Encoding transform NMR for uniaxially oriented samples

A new transformation for the free-induction decay of uniaxially oriented material is proposed; it eliminates the line broadening due to the distribution of the Euler angle γ around the symmetry axis, and presents a sharp line at a position representing the chemical shift anisotropy, when the symmetry axis is perpendicular to the magnetic field direction. The γ-encoding transformation is demonstrated by 13C NMR of ultradrawn polyethylene fibers.
