Abstract :
The transient grating signal after photoexcitation of a photochromic molecule in a monolayer was detected. The grating signal decays biexponentially. The faster decay is attributed to the diffusion process of the monomer molecule, and the slower one to the diffusion of aggregates or monomer diffusion in crystalline islands in the monolayer.
