Optical properties of tris(cyclopentadienyl)gadolinium. Luminescence from an interligand triplet under ambient conditions

The organometallic compound GdCp3 (Cp=cyclopentadienyl) in ether solution shows a green luminescence (λmax=523 nm, φ=0.2). It is suggested that this emission originates from a triplet of the Cp33− moiety.
