Abstract
In this Letter we report a novel measurement of the magnetically induced birefringence (Cotton–Mouton effect) in krypton and xenon. The measurement is performed, with the apparatus of the PVLAS experiment, at the previously uninvestigated wavelength of 1064 nm.
