Syntheses of new amphiphilic europium(III) complexes for Langmuir–Blodgett films

Four amphiphilic europium(III) complexes of Eu(DBM)3(L1), Eu(DBM)3(L2), Eu(TTA)3(L1) and Eu(TTA)3(L2) (in which DBM = dibenzoylmethanato, TTA = thenoyltrifluoroacetonato, L1 = 3-octadecyl-2-(4′-dimethylaminophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline, and L2 = 2-(3′-methoxy-4′-octadecyloxyphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f] 1,10-phenanthroline), are synthesized and characterized. The Langmuir–Blodgett film-forming properties of Eu(TTA)3(L1) are studied by surface pressure–area isotherm measurement, low-angle X-ray diffraction, and UV–vis and emission spectroscopy.
