Abstract :
The well-characterized water/AOT/isooctane microemulsion has been explored to study the influence of aromatic heterocyclic compounds, viz., pyridine (Py), 2-aminopyridine (2-Ampy), 3-aminopyridine (3-Ampy), 2-amino-4-methylpyridine (2-Am-4-mpy), 2-amino-6-methylpyridine (2-Am-6-mpy) on the dynamics of volume and temperature induced percolation process. The aromatic heterocyclic compounds, which are the precursor compounds to synthetic Se/Te chemistry, have been found to assist the percolation process at all the concentrations under study. The observed behavior of these additives has been explored in terms of scaling equations, which delineate the dynamic nature of the percolation process. The results have been further analyzed in the light of activation energy of the percolation process and thermodynamics of droplet clustering. An attempt has been made to get an insight into the interactions occurring between the core water and the additives through UV–vis absorption spectroscopy.
