Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe womenʹs perspectives in becoming and being alcohol dependent. Part 1, “Alienation From Self and Others,” on page 134 in this issue of Archives, describes the study methods, the sample, and the basic psychosocial problem faced by rural, alcoholic women. Part 2, “Running Away to Nowhere,” focuses on the basic psychosocial process that women used to resolve the pain caused by their “Alienation From Self and Others.” The article concludes with suggestions for nursing intervention.
