Abstract
Ti2AlNb has excellent properties such as high specific strength and fracture toughness as well as good creep resistance, so that it exhibits potential as high temperature structural material for aircraft and aerospace applications. But poor wear resistance is one of the main drawbacks that restricts its actual uses. Double glow plasma surface molybdenizing was applied for the purpose of improving wear resistance performance of Ti2AlNb.
s of key process parameters including temperature, time, pressure and distance between source electrode and cathode on the thickness and hardness of the alloyed layer were discussed. Composition distribution and microstructure have been analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and glow discharge spectrum (GDS). Micro-hardness versus the distance from the surface was also measured.
