Optical monitoring of the thermal spraying

An original approach has been made in monitoring the thermal spraying. Monitoring of the process is based on visualization of particle movement using both high speed videocamera and wide-band high intensive illumination and measurements of particle temperature and velocity. Synchronous with the registration of the particle parameters, surface temperature of the coating has been measured with 2-channel pyrometer with high spatial and temporal resolution. The results of investigations of the Cold Spray process and D-gun spraying are presented.
