Abstract :
Micropatterned films with nano-porous sodium titanate on titanium were prepared by a template-free laser irradiation technology. The microstructure and composition of the micropatterns on titanium were investigated by scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive spectrum and Raman spectrum. The results showed that: (1) Micropatterned films with nano-porous structure could be prepared using laser irradiation with various powers. A well-defined morphology was shown at the irradiation power of 5 W. Nanobumps were observed to homogeneously distribute in the laser irradiation zone. (2) Set-selective apatite deposition was identified on the micropatterned films in simulated body fluid. The laser irradiation technology is capable of controlling the micro- and nano-scale geometry of the film on titanium surface, and the micropatterned film would be potentially used for manipulating stem cell adhesion and differentiation.
