Probing the formation and chemistry of enoxyoxirane derivatives in the C-ring en route to guanacastepene

Enol acetate and silyl enol ether, derivatives of 2 and 3 undergo stereoselective epoxidation from the β-face of the C13–C14 olefin. The progression of these compounds to the C13 acetoxy C14 ketones is described.
