Abstract :
Inhibition of the mevalonate pathway by an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, mevalotin, in Streptomyces prunicolor possessing both mevalonate and MEP pathways resulted in the production of a new metabolite mevashuntin that consisted of conjugated thiazolone and pyranonaphthoquinone moieties.
