Abstract :
The syntheses of three new macrocycles composed of an acceptor (viologen) and a donor (dioxoaryl) are reported. These compounds exhibit intramolecular charge transfer and their X-ray analyses revealed that the aromatic systems are situated in parallel planes with a mean interplanar distance of 3.32 إ.
