Abstract :
An efficient and stereoselective synthesis of trans-2,3-disubstituted pyrrolidines is described. The intermolecular alkylation of racemic N-acyliminium ions generated in situ from the corresponding 3-substituted lactams proceeds stereoselectively and in high yield.
