Abstract :
An efficient total synthesis of a potent antifungal and moderate cytotoxic agent crocacin C is described. The synthesis involves the generation of four contiguous stereogenic centres via desymmetrization of a meso bicyclic dihydrofuran using asymmetric hydroboration.
