Abstract :
Propargylic N-hydroxypyrrolidines were prepared by diastereoselective addition of pre-formed alkynylalanes to various highly functionalized carbohydrate-derived endocyclic nitrones. Excellent diastereoisomeric excesses were obtained using dimethyl-2-phenylethynylalane. Addition of other alkynylalane derivatives to such type of nitrones is also reported.
