Abstract
Enantiomerically pure (R)-quinuclidine-2-carboxylic acid has been prepared by following two related 7 step synthetic routes in 16% and 19% overall yield, respectively, from a 1,2,4-trisubstituted piperidine that is easily prepared from inexpensive d-mannitol.
