  • Abstract
    Mild heating of the ring-expanded N-heterocyclic carbenes 7-Mes and 6-Mes results in intramolecular insertion of the carbene into an ortho-methyl C–H bond. In the presence of traces of acid, the resulting products ring-open to afford N-alkyl indoles.
