Abstract :
An efficient synthetic method of 3-methyleneindan-1-ol scaffold was developed from Baylis–Hillman adducts. The reaction involved palladium-catalyzed 5-exo-trig cyclization and iodide ion-assisted formal δ-carbon elimination/decarboxylation process.
