Vinylbipyridinium dication–triphenylureidocalix[6]arene pseudorotaxane

A novel pseudo[2]rotaxane 3⊂1 was constructed and confirmed by 1H NMR, UV–Vis absorption, and luminescence spectra. The association and fluorescence quenching abilities of the new complexes are limited because of their relatively weaker interactions than 2⊂1. Based on such a stable pseudorotaxane, a novel rotaxane employing 1-naphthoyl chloride as the stopper is also prepared.
