Abstract
The naturally occurring γ-hydroxy-β-sulfanylbutenolide cepanolide and a range of new analogues were synthesized in concise, regiospecific manner through the combined use of 2-silyloxyfuran oxyfunctionalization and tandem thio-Michael addition/elimination.
