Abstract :
In summary, we studied HRV in patients with well-characterized Friedreichʹs ataxia. We found that the disease is associated with increased sympathetic activity and a partial loss in the capacity of the vagus to activate physiologically during sleep. To further explore the pathophysiologic relations between neurologic impairment, cardiac involvement, and alterations in autonomic control observed in this study, it is necessary to follow-up patients prospectively.
