Abstract :
An organic salt composed of triphenylmethylamine and a fluorescent disulfonic acid provides a diamondoid porous organic salt (d-POS) through formation of connectable tetrahedral supramolecular clusters. The d-POS completely keeps its open channel structure upon guest desorption and adsorption and shows not only zeolitic property such as selective gas and molecular adsorption but also tunable fluorescent property in response to adsorbed molecules. The fluorescent color is changed from blue to green by incorporating electron-donor molecules while the fluorescence is quenched by electron-acceptor molecules. These results demonstrate efficient usability of the design for constructing functional rigid porous structures.
