Detection of coronary artery calcium to differentiate patients with early coronary atherosclerosis from luminally normal arteries

In summary, fast CT can non-invasively differentiate patients with early coronary atherosclerosis from those with smooth, luminally normal arteries. The identified patients appear to comprise a higher risk subgroup that might benefit from more aggressive interventions targeted toward the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease.
