Study of aza-cyclization of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl moieties and synthetic application to hexahydroapoerysopine

Aza-cyclization of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl moieties with free amine has been studied. An azepine alkaloid, hexahydroapoerysopine, has been synthesized from an enone-ester in a concise manner through the aza-cyclization followed by reductions.
