Abstract :
An experiment was conducted to assess the effect of RONOZYME-P (phytase) supplementation on the growth, nitrogen and phosphorus utilization and haematological indices of broiler finishers. Five diets were formulated such that diet 1 contain protein sources of both plant and animal origin, Diet 2 and 3 had groundnut cake as protein source, but diet 3 had phytase supplementation, diet 4 and 5 had soyabean meal as protein source, but diet 5 had phytase supplementation. Two hundred and forty broilers were brooded on diet 1 for 3 weeks, after which they were randomly allotted to five dietary treatments with four replicates of 12 birds each in a completely randomized design. The birds were fed their experimental assigned diets for 4weeks, during which performance and nutrient digestibility was carried out and haematology on the 27th day of feed trial. The result obtained indicates that significant differences exists across treatments in final weight, daily weight gain, feed intake, protein efficiency ratio and feed conversion ratio. Birds on control diet and phytase supplemented diets had better performance than birds on the non phytase supplemented diets. Apparent phosphorus digestibility of birds on phytase inclusive diets had statistically similar values and were significantly (p < 0.05) higher than those of birds without phytase inclusion. Birds on diet 5 (soyabean meal with phytase supplementation) utilized nitrogen and phosphorus better than birds on other dietary treatments. The Red Blood Cells of birds fed diets with phytase inclusion were significantly higher than those of birds fed non phytase inclusive diets. This study reveals that broiler finisher diets supplemented with Ronozyme P enhance nitrogen and phosphorus utilization and haematological parameters indicates safe nutritional regimes with enzyme supplementation.
