Prostate cancer: Molecular approaches for detection and prognosis, and angiogenic therapeutic targets

Molecular approaches to early detection and prognostic determination of prostate cancer aggressiveness using proteomic, genomic, and immunomic arrays, as well as systemic anti-angiogenic therapy, in those patients with high-risk prostate cancer is discussed in this special issue. Recent translational advances and clinical outcomes are discussed in this issue, which will hopefully help in the development of better, more specific treatment options for those patients with currently incurable hormone-resistant prostate cancer. Molecular tumor assessment in combination with anti-angiogenic therapies in prostate cancer has come of age.
