Abstract :
This short report presents the investigation on measurement of dynamic thermal gradients of thin flat specimens for thermomechanical fatigue testing. The longitudinal as well as transverse thermal gradients of the gauge section of the flat specimen has been measured using two types of coil configuration in the temperature interval of 500 °C ↔ 850 °C at a heating and cooling rate of 5 °C/s. It eventually transpires from the measured gradients that the transversal electromagnetic field type coil configuration is suitable for carrying out thermomechanical fatigue testing with acceptable thermal gradients.
