Abstract
Chemical heat pump is a promising alternative for upgrading the low-level thermal energy. The catalytic dehydrogenation of isopropanol occurring at low temperature is a key procedure in the isopropanol/acetone/hydrogen chemical heat pump system. The kinetics of the liquid-phase dehydrogenation of isopropanol over Raney nickel and rapidly quenched Raney nickel catalysts were studied experimentally. The results showed that the rapidly quenched Raney nickel catalyst is much more active than Raney nickel and the reciprocal of dehydrogenation rate was linear to the 1/2 power of the acetone concentration for both of them. Finally the reaction kinetics of liquid-phase isopropanol dehydrogenation with the two different catalysts was obtained respectively.
