Abstract :
We produced solvated electron in ethylene glycol by two photon ionization of the solvent with a 263 nm femtosecond laser pulse and followed its dynamics by pump–probe transient absorption spectroscopy. For the first time, time resolved absorption spectra ranging from 450 to 725 nm and around 900 nm were measured revealing the rapid formation of a solvated electron’s precursor which absorbs around 450 nm. We also analysed the geminate recombination of the solvated electron.
